Makram Guirguis, known as Mak, graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy with honors from Cairo University in 2006, setting the stage for a distinguished career dedicated to patient care. He further honed his expertise by earning a Master’s degree in Physiotherapy in 2010.
With over 17 years of experience, Mak has become a respected figure in the field, particularly within the Barrhaven community, where he has served for the past decade. His approach to physiotherapy is characterized by a passion for investigating the root causes of physical problems and tailoring solutions to fit his patients’ lifestyles.
Mak has profound experience in treating post motor vehicle accidents pain, temporomandibular joint disorders (TMD), concussions, spinal pain, and various musculoskeletal conditions. His qualifications include certification as a Spinal Manipulation Therapist (CSMT). He firmly believes in an integrative approach to treatment, combining manual therapy techniques, exercises, electro-modalities, acupuncture/dry needling, and cupping to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Beyond his clinical expertise, Mak has a personal connection to sports and physical activity. As an avid soccer player who has experienced his share of sports injuries, he has a deep understanding of both the therapist and patient perspectives.
Mak is also a dedicated family man who enjoys social gatherings and BBQs. His commitment to community extends to working with children; he ran a summer camp for three years, engaging over 70 kids and fostering a love for physical activity.
